It's been quite a busy year for me. I started working full time at a photo-audio-video store and was promoted to assistant store manager during the third month after being hired. When I'm not there, you can find me out and about covering various events or shooting private photo sessions, in studio and on location.

Here are some photos from an event I was documenting: rehearsal, production and break down of props, lighting, etc after the final show of Guys and Dolls by the Glens Falls Community Theater. The show was held at the Charles Wood Theater, downtown Glens Falls, NY.

Ending this note... I wish you and yours happy holidays.

Art Gallery Opening

This is straight from Lake George Arts Project

Marc Roder
September 15 - October 19, 2012
The opening reception takes place on Saturday, September 15, 6 - 8 pm, during the intermission of performances at the Lake George Arts Project’s JAZZ WEEKEND.  Come celebrate art and music in Lake George! These events are FREE and open to the public.

Marc Roder’s paintings mix personal stories and memories with historical and popular myths. Marc says: “In my paintings the accumulations of human debris suggest a world where the life of the object stands in for the presence of the figure and biological activity. Human striving and tinkering are strewn over the armature of earth, water and sky. I have drawn from the ever-changing landscape of popular culture and the retooling of our common mythical journeys inspired by Carl Jung, Ovid, Shakespeare, John LeCarré, Walt Disney and Homer (the Greek and Simpson), to name a few. In these paintings landscape is a jumping off point for narrative, it is an imaginary ground in which I can locate social, art historical and psychological concerns.  Everything depicted in my work probably has happened or probably will happen to me, and possibly to the viewer as well. The paintings flirt with disaster, and sometimes disaster flirts back”.

Marc Roder studied at the San Francisco Art Institute, received his B.A. in Fine Art from the University of California at Santa Cruza, and his M.F.A. in Painting from the University of Pennsylvania. His work was included in recent exhibitions at Alberta College of Art and Design, Canada; Eastern Oregon University, La Grande, Oregon;  Greene Contemporary, Sarasota, FL;  ArtBasel Miami, Dorsch Gallery, Miami, FL; and a solo exhibition at ARC Gallery, Hornby Island, BC.  His work is in the collection of the John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota, FL.

This exhibition is funded in part by Price Chopper's Golub Foundation, Hacker Boat Company, Inc., and the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency. The Courthouse Gallery hours during exhibitions are Tuesday through Friday 12 – 5 pm, Saturday 12 – 4 pm, and all other times by appointment. The Courthouse Gallery is located at the side entrance of the Old County Courthouse, corner of Canada and Lower Amherst Streets, Lake George, NY.

A Day Out and About

In Exploration of something of a Rustic Theme

I had the day off today, went exploring after meeting with a client and happily stumbled upon a remarkable find. It is an old abandoned barn... well, it's some type of historical site.

Here are a couple of photos from what was inside the barn that was about to fall down. I didn't dare go inside...
so the images are taken from a distance. I had to open the ISO, slow the shutter and open the aperture as much as possible. It was a bright sunny day, but inside what was left of the roof and walls... was a little hard to see... so I used the camera to help me have a look see.

so... kinda been busy - not a bad thing

Yep, kinda been real busy as of late.... totally, so not a bad thing.
I have this good job, entered with the understanding that I was hired for a specific reason... have been moved into a (that) reason/position within the first 3 months. Not bad. I really like the company and respect the type of business it is.

I get to run a full fledge photo lab, help in camera, audio and electronic sales and assist customers with light tech issues... Yeah, I get to help newbies grasp a better understanding of their new cameras or provide customer service in gearing up pros with more equipment.

Pretty awesome watching people enjoy their new tool or toy.
Pretty awesome helping other pro's gear up, process (print) photos so they can deliver to their clients.

I tell ya, life is good.

Peace.... and smile.

So I can afford coffee!

Two 32 oz packs! It's from Louisiana. My family served this blend since I'm knee-high to a grasshopper and it's the first coffee I've learned how to make as a young child.
Two bags lasts 3 - 4 months!

Glad it's affordable!
