Well, I've been pushing trying to get more experience. Full time semester, part time work that consumes homework time and time behind the lens.... wow! life is good since I am my own individual. I can't write much right now since I'm actually supposed to be working on two assignments due tomorrow... so this is short. In the coming weeks the assignments grow to become more complex so I won't have much online time.
Below are some photos from a recent game. I'll let the photos tell you the story.
I've been working at gaining more experience with indoor action sports photography and it's amazing to go, do, see, capture some of what's happening during the event. The energy, the excitement, the game, the sportsmanship, the challenge... whoa!
Now, imagine before any game, making sure to tell everyone to pause for the camera before they catch, pass, dribble, shoot or fall. They must face forward... no blinking eyes now! haha! I love how life goes on.... nothing staged... motion!
I have a flash that is harsh and doesn't have a red eye reduction function built in it... my camera has a built in function within it's flash and it's not programable for the external mount flash.... so, yeah, a student buying a flash/gear on student income. I'm going to work it. Small steps are steps none the less! so I will figure out how to use the flash to get that good lighting minus the horrendous red eye. I mean this is beyond red eye... it's the level of red eye that is ughhhhhh the worst possible. Another thing... the time for the flash to recycle... I end up capturing some amazing shots during that recycle period, except they are without flash... yeah, not good. So, I'll keep working at it.
After being asked if ISO 500 was the highest resolution to get good photos I went out and tried higher resolution... went to ISO 800.... nuh uh... never again.... lesson learned.
Now, I've heard many times, it's not the camera... it's the user behind it. Well, cameras, lenses, other gear that people with limited income can afford are finally getting better... and I will keep working with what I have until I can move up toward the higher end equipment. So bare with me as I share what my gear can capture. If I were looking for excuses not to gain experience by being out there getting images, I would say that without the right gear it doesn't pay to keep investing time in something that won't come out right.... but, since I'm not that type of person... I'm out there, building that portfolio with what I've got.
As for outdoor photography -- while there is good lighting its great... indoor studio photography is great... I like all types of photography... it's never the same exact lighting, placement, actions... never ending motions, calculations...
I always liked those still small moments in life... and photography is the best way to share moments that if not captured will not be remembered exactly the same way that they occurred. Even if the action is captured... by what angle... by who's eye or who's lens... I really realize how multi-dimensional life and all of it's fractional elements are in the time space continuum when I stop to take photos.
First photo below:
Little Paula Parsons has a little help from mom, Marietta Angelotti, in the children's run early morning before the adult run.... Dad (left), Ray Parsons runs right along... they run for a 45 year old friend, who was diagnosed as a child with juvenile arthritis.
Below are photos of other participants...
Peace to all
I've learned quite a bit this semester with the help of some amazing professors. Every semester is mind blowing... the ONE thing that has helped me the most so I could work through other classes was in the voice and diction class. I'll share more about that at a later date.
There were some dancers around the Quincy Market area... wow...
Mid-terms are finally over with! yay!!! and I have a little time off to get caught up with all the projects that are due before we get close to finals... yeah, don't let anyone convince you that a community college is easy vs. a four year... I'll pursue a graduate degree a little later. I need experience/exposure to the equipment that I will use later before entering a 4 year. That way it will be familiar area and easier to walk through.
Anywhooo... I was able to go to Boston this last weekend ... it was great... I was in great company with other students.
Here is someone who was posing as a statue... It's always fun to watch children watch others. She was great and interacted with onlookers from time to time....
I hope you will have a good day tomorrow.... find someone or some people to spend it with.
Peace to you
This first photo was while visiting the Statue of Liberty, NY NY. Yeah! I had the opportunity to go there!
